New London, Connecticut, 1646 - 2012: From early ship building and trade with the West Indies through the glory days of whaling and early industry, to the demands of the 21st century, New London has continually evolved. Riverbanks, harbors and bays have been filled and changed; neighborhoods built, demolished and built again; businesses thrived, failed and new economies opened up.
